A Good Day But Still Learning
Today was a good day. I had time to myself and spent it doing exactly what I needed — not rushing, not pushing, just moving at my own pace. I was able to take care of a few things that have been sitting untouched for a while. Not because I didn’t care, but because for a long time I simply didn’t have the mental capacity to do them. Today, I did. And I finished everything I set out to do.
Now, as the day winds down and bedtime gets closer, my thoughts are drifting toward tomorrow. Work. The cold. The reality of leaving the house when I really don’t want to. That familiar wave of overwhelm is starting to rise. It feels strange after such a good day — but it’s also not unfamiliar to me anymore.
I’m learning to take these moments as they come. I’m getting better at offering myself grace when uncomfortable thoughts show up and my nervous system starts to buzz. I notice the pattern and try not to judge it. I sometimes wonder: if I didn’t have to go anywhere tomorrow, would I feel this overwhelmed? Maybe. Maybe not.
What I do know is that I’m still learning. And tonight, even after a good day, I’m struggling just a little — and that’s okay too.
